All Coaches must complete 5 mandatory online NFHS Learn courses prior to the first contact with Student-athletes.
Fairfield is seeking our next Head Girls Tennis Coach. This person will be directly responsible for the entire tennis program. We are looking for a Tennis Coach to be responsible for instructing players during practice and matches. The responsibilities of a Tennis Coach include creating strategies for the team, instructing the players, and providing mentorship. We also want our coach closely involved with our other junior high program.
To be successful as a Tennis Coach, you should have solid knowledge of Tennis and its rules, be able to develop winning strategies, and have good communication skills. Ultimately, a top-notch Tennis Coach should be able to make decisions under pressure, and have exceptional leadership skills.
We also expect our Head Coach to be a team player. We expect this person to work with other programs and share athletes with other programs. For our Tennis program to have success, we need players who also play fall and winter sports. We expect you to help those fall and winter teams and share your athletes.
We expect our Coach to promote academics at Fairfield. We expect our players to be student-athletes; student first and athletes second.
The Varsity Head Tennis Coach will report to the Athletic Director and Assistant Athletic Director.
Tennis Coach Responsibilities and Characteristics:
- Understanding the game and the rules.
- Studying the skills and abilities of the players to maximize performance.
- Devising play strategies.
- Developing ideas to optimize performance.
- Providing mentorship.
- Strong discipline in the program.
- Be seen in the community as a strong leader/role model for our student-athletes.
- Teach life-long skills.
- Teaching players the rules of the game.
- Training assistant coaches.
Tennis Coach Requirements:
- Previous experience with Tennis.
- A solid understanding of the game.
- Be able to motivate players.
- Good leadership skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Have excellent memory and concentration skills.
- Be able to assist players who have a desire to play at the next level. However, the coach must be realistic about the abilities of the athletes and help guide them to the best place for success.
