ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

 

  1. Hold and articulates high expectations for student learning, achievement and behavior.
  2. Communicate to staff the impact of various disabilities on student academic, behavioral, and/or social development and how that affects individual expectations.
  3. Utilize knowledge of the impact of various disabilities on student academic, behavioral and/or social development in planning instruction.
  4. Implement district and building level initiatives.
  5. Implement standards-based instruction.
  6. Make data driven instructional decisions.
  7. Demonstrate an understanding of the concepts of free, appropriate, public education (FAPE) and least restrictive environment (LRE)
  8. Provide instruction that demonstrates use of research based most effective teaching strategies.
  9. Select and utilize appropriate assistive technologies to address the strengths and needs of learners.
  10. Deliver instruction that matches learning needs of all students.
  11. Communicate instruction clearly and effective.
  12. Provide accurate, specific, and timely feedback to students.
  13. Engage students in the process of data driven decision making.
  14. Include students, when appropriate, and always after age 14, in the case conference process, including the development of the Individual Education Plan.
  15. Provide effective classroom management that includes teaching routines and procedures to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
  16. Create active learning environments and collaboratively design settings that foster an enriching, nurturing, and safe climate where diversity and academic risk taking are valued.
  17. Collaborate with classroom teachers in modifying the learning environment to manage behaviors and implement behavior intervention plans. 

All of the above applies but this will be for summer school students.  There will be NO IEP writing but rather ensuring IEP conditions are met and assisting with modificaitons.

 

Collaborates with paraprofessionals to guide instruction and support of students.  Provides input on paraprofessional performance review with supervisor.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.
